Eagan Boyer wouldn’t look out of place as a power forward on the Penn State basketball team.
But football is Boyer’s No. 1 game, and he’s quite good at it.
Good enough to catch the attention of many of America’s top college programs.
Ultimately, Boyer chose Penn State, where he’ll be entering what’s turned into a perennially solid offensive room. This past spring was a feather in line coach Phil Trautwein’s cap, with three Penn State OL— including No. 11 overall pick Olu Fashanu— being drafted. That’s a level Boyer hopes to get to by the time he leaves Penn State.

Before Penn State: Boyer came to Penn State after lettering three years at William A. Hough High School. He helped his team to three conference championships, the last of which coming in an 11-1 season. At the end of his junior season, Boyer was named to the all-state team.
The next April, the consensus three-star recruit committed to Penn State, choosing coach James Franklin’s program over Auburn, Clemson and Virginia Tech, among others.
Where he stands: Boyer is likely to redshirt his freshman season, with Penn State having a deep OL. But he’ll still have chances to impress the coaching staff throughout the weeks and potentially find himself making a few appearances.
A quote by Boyer: “Ever since I got up there, I fell in love with the town. Their coaching style is amazing. They push you as hard as they can. I know they are going to develop me the best that they can.” — Boyer to 247sports.
A quote about Boyer: ”Another guy that a lot of people aren’t talking about, but we’re excited about that is really kind of changed his body as well is [Eagan] Boyer. I want to say Boyer has put on 35, 40 pounds, and is really doing some nice things.” — Coach James Franklin on Boyer during his Penn State Media Day press conference.
