A Penn State legacy and three-star receiver is visiting campus next month.
Tony Johnson Jr., a three-star Class of 2028 receiver from Ohio’s Olentangy Berlin High School, announced via social media Tuesday that he plans to attend Penn State’s Sept. 26 game against Wisconsin at Beaver Stadium.
Johnson is the son of, believe it or not, Tony Johnson Sr., who played receiver at Penn State from 2000 to 2003.
At the time he left college, Johnson ranked in the top 10 on Penn State receptions and receiving yards lists. His older brother (and Tony’s uncle) Larry is one of the great Nittany Lions of all time. Larry Johnson is still the only Penn State running back to eclipse 2,000 yards in a season, which led to him finishing third in the Heisman Trophy voting.
Tony Johnson Jr. has offers from four schools in Kent State, Miami (OH), Marshall and Toledo. Although he doesn’t have a Penn State offer yet, he’s visited campus as a prospect before, most recently at a prospect camp in early June.
In six games played last season, Johnson gained 128 yards on 10 catches.
