Penn State All 105: LB Winston Yates Part of PSU’s New Jersey Pipeline

All 105 is a Nittany Sports Now series profiling each Penn State football player, and this edition will take a look at walk-on linebacker Winston Yates.

Height: 6-foot-2

Weight: 223 pounds 

Hometown: Moorestown, New Jersey 

Before Penn State: Yates was a four-year letterman and a two-time captain at Paul VI High School. As a senior, he was team MVP and an all-state selection. Yates also played basketball for Paul VI, where he was named first-team all-conference as a shooting guard. Going back to football, Yates experienced team success at Paul VI, helping the squad to an 8-3 record as a senior.

2023: Yates redshirted his first season at Penn State, not appearing in any games. But he impressed the coaching staff on the practice field, earning Developmental Squad Player of the Week leading into the team’s game against Illinois.
