Hakeem Beamon played at Penn State for almost six seasons.
Penn State's Hakeem Beamon.

Penn State football’s defensive line room isn’t lacking in experience, and Hakeem Beamon is among Penn State’s oldest players.

Beamon has been with the program since the 2019 season and has been getting playing time since 2020, when he appeared in eight of the team’s nine games.

He missed the entire 2021 season for undisclosed reasons, but since then has been a regular contributor on Penn State’s DL.

Beamon isn’t the only sixth-year senior in Penn State’s defensive tackle room. Dvon J-Thomas formally Ellies) has also become a mainstay in Happy Valley. Beamon is the latest subject of All 105, a Nittany Sports Now Series profiling each Penn State player.

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 285 pounds

Hometown: Midlothian, Virginia

Before Penn State: Hakeem Beamon was a four-time letterman in high school, earning two letters at Manchester High School and two at Bird High School. He would also become team captain as a senior and guided the Lancers to a Virginia Class 6 State Championship for the first time in program history with a 15-0 record. He would earn such awards as All-USA Virginia Football Team first team by USA Today and Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 6 Defensive Player of the Year. Beamon was Rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports and ESPN and a three-star recruit by Rivals, rated as the No. 164 overall prospect, No. 10 strongside defensive end, and No. 4 recruit in Virginia by 247Sports…Ranked as the No. 33 defensive end, No. 11 recruit in Virginia by ESPN, and No. 17 prospect in Virginia by Rivals.

2019: Beamon redshirted his first season, appearing in three games.

2020: Beamon played in eight of Penn State’s nine games, ended the year with seven tackles (four solo) and 1.5 tackles for loss.

2021: Hakeem Beamon didn’t play in any games for undisclosed reasons. He still practiced with the team and was the Developmental Squad’s Defensive Player of the Week for the week of 9/18 (Auburn).

2022: Played in 13 games, making 12 starts at defensive tackle … Made 16 tackles (8 solo), six tackles for loss, and two quarterback hurries. He also led the defensive line with four pass breakups. He was also named the coaching staff’s Defensive Player of the Week when the Nittany Lions played Indiana on Nov. 11.

2023: Beamon again played in all 13 of Penn State’s games, leading Penn State’s defensive tackles with 340 snaps per Pro Football Focus Beamon ended the season with 11 tackles (seven solo), a sack, 1.5 tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries.

Where he stands: There’s no reason to think Beamon won’t be among Penn State’s most active defensive players again. His experience should be invaluable to Penn State.
