Penn State is a heavy favorite Saturday.
It was also a heavy favorite the last time it took on Temple on the road.
Penn State came into the 2015 matchup 14-point favorites.
Penn State lost by 17 that day.
Granted, the spread is a little bigger this time around: Penn State is a 23.5-point favorite per FanDuel Sportsbook.
But the point remains that it’s harder to win on the road than it is at home, and PSU coach Matt Campbell is aware of that.

“Huge step for us,” Campbell told reporters at his weekly press conference Tuesday. “Really talked about it Saturday as soon as we got in the locker room. You’re already kind of behind schedule playing a noon game, let alone on top of that having to get yourself ready for your first road trip as a team and as a program. I think this is going to be huge for us.
“Great teams play great on the road. That’s just how it goes. Understanding the zoom focus it takes, understanding a noon game on the road on top of it. I think a lot of things that this group is going to have to navigate forward, with the leadership of our coaching staff, the leadership of our players. We’re going to have to handle it.”
A SCHEDULING DIFFERENCE
Penn State didn’t go on the road in any of its three non-conference games last season and didn’t play away until its fifth game of the season.
PSU will have to travel a little earlier this season.
PSU-Temple is scheduled to begin at noon on ESPN2.
