UNIVERSITY PARKโ Penn State football could play its biggest game of this seasonโ some would say in multiple seasonsโ without one of its best players per the Big Tenโs weekly availability report.
No, the player in question is not QB Drew Allar, who, as reported by Pete Nakos of On3Sports Friday afternoon, will be good to go.
Allar was not listed on the report.
Rather, itโs defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton who is questionable for against Ohio State.
Dennis-Sutton is a player many project as a first round 2025 draft pick. The 6-foot-5, 266-pounder has been a force on the EDGE for the past several seasons, and has lived up to his five-star hype thus far.
THE INJURY
Dennis-Sutton got hurt late in the first half in last weekโs 28-13 win at Wisconsin. He tried to retune in the third quarter but was quickly sidelined. As a result, Penn State may have to maneuver how it plans to use its defensive ends. The guy who usually starts at Suttonโs opposite, Abdul Carter, is healthy. But Penn State likes to use Carter in multiple areas of the field, so coordinator Tom Allen will have to decide whether he wants to use Carter strictly at derisive end or if he wants to keep using Carter in a utility role while fifth-year Smith Vilbert gets more playing time than he normally would. Penn State also has fourth-year player Amin Vanover, who would likely start in place of Dennis-Sutton if he canโt go.
