The phone has finally rang for one of Penn State’s most iconic players.
Penn State’s all-time leading rusher Kaytron Allen is heading for the pros.
Allen has been selected by the Washington Commanders in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.
A four-year starter, Allen broke Evan Royster’s rushing record with 4,180 yards and owns the most rushing attempts ever (769).
He is the 23rd Big Ten player all-time to rush for over 4,000 yards.
Allen earned the majority of carries with his 1-2 punch Nick Singleton in the backfield.
Allen ranks third in rushing touchdowns (39) and fifth in all-purpose yards (4,711). A physical back capable of running people over, Allen is one of the toughest running backs in this draft class.
“Fatman” started nine of 12 games at Penn State last year, totaling career-highs at 1,303 yards and 15 touchdowns.
He averaged 108.6 yards per game as a senior and closed his career with a matchup for the ages, rushing for 226 yards at Rutgers to become bowl eligible.
Allen will be remembered fondly by Penn State fans after winning the Rose Bowl, first round home playoff game against SMU, and Fiesta Bowl, plus appearances in the Peach Bowl and Orange Bowl.
The 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh concludes on Saturday, April 25 with the 4th-7th rounds.
