Penn State’s 2027 recruiting momentum continued Friday with the addition of three-star wide receiver Jamir Dean.
Dean, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect from Alcoa High School in Alcoa, Tennessee, committed to Penn State, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals. He chose the Nittany Lions over Arkansas, Purdue and Wisconsin.
“I’m ready to be a part of something special,” Dean told Rivals of his decision.
Dean gives Penn State another offensive piece in a 2027 class that has quickly gained national traction. Last season, he caught 34 passes for 590 yards and 11 touchdowns, showing the size and production that made him a priority target for the Nittany Lions.
Dean visited Penn State unofficially April 23 and is expected to return to State College for an official visit June 19.
While Dean is now committed to Penn State, his recruitment may not be completely finished. He still has official visits scheduled to UConn on May 29, Arkansas on June 5 and Purdue on June 12.
Dean is Penn State’s 13th commitment in the 2027 cycle. The Nittany Lions now hold the No. 5 recruiting class nationally, according to 247Sports, a rapid rise for a class that had no commitments just over a month ago.
