Farrell Files: Two Great Commits for Penn State

In this edition of the Farrell Files Penn State I’ll look at the two latest commitments as the Nittany Lions are putting together a very nice 2024 class.

James Franklin and company now have four commitments in this 2024 class and all are mid level four star prospects in my book. And that’s a really good start.

Franklin added to the defense recently with LB Kari Jackson and DB Kenneth Woseley. Jackson is a physical specimen in his upper body with wide shoulders, long arms and a powerful build. He’s 6-2 and about 215 pounds with quick twitch ability and he will add strength especially in his lower body as he grows. I’d expect him to top out at 240 pounds or so. He’s aggressive and covers a lot of ground so he can blitz, hold the edge and drop in coverage. He’s still raw in some aspects of the game especially recognition and his drops but that will come in time. Right now he’s an attack and go guy who plays his best moving forward and closer to the line of scrimmage. As a Michigan kid he reboots that momentum in the state we saw in 2021 and that will help. He visited Michigan and Michigan State plenty of times so this is a good win for Franklin over Big Ten rivals and the old and current LB tradition played a part. Micah Parsons helps trust me.

As for Woseley he’s a skinny kid at 165 or so but at 5-11 he’s not tiny and he has length. He’s fluid with loose hips which bodes well as he won’t stiffen or tighten up as he adds weight and he can jump. He’s also solid with anticipation. His struggle now is being physical as a tackler and when the ball is in the air so size will help that. Imhotep has been good to PSU and this will keep them active at an important school. And on the subtle side this is key not just in beating Michigan as one of his finalists but Nebraska as well as Matt Rhule has a ton of Philly connections and wants to hit that area hard. This is a nice face palm to that effort.
