Things are looking up for former Penn State quarterback Drew Allar.
Four months after suffering a season-ending ankle injury against Northwestern, Allar will return to the field this weekend to throw for NFL coaches, general managers, and scouts at the NFL Combine.
Allar told the media that he will throw, but doesn’t plan on running or taking part in other activities, and the same goes for Penn State’s Pro Day March 18.
“If I had to go out and play a game today, I feel like I could get it done,” Allar said, reported by Johnny McGonigal of Penn Live.
Allar’s recovery focus has been getting ready for this moment, to showcase his arm in front of 32 NFL teams in Indianapolis.
A three-year starter at Penn State, Allar only played six games as a senior before his ankle injury. Allar completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,110 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions.
In 45 career games over four seasons, Allar threw for 7,402 yards, 61 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
The former top recruit could have declared for the draft last season, but returned to Penn State determined to improve and increase his draft stock.
Allar helped lead Penn State to the 2024 Big Ten Championship Game and College Football Playoff semifinals, but fell short in both big games.
He also led PSU’s first two wins in the College Football Playoff, a 38-10 victory over SMU inside Beaver Stadium and a 31-14 win against Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl to be one of the final teams left standing.
The 2026 NFL Draft takes place in Pittsburgh, two and a half hours away from State College, from April 23-25.
