The torch has been passed from one Penn State quarterback to another for the 2026 season.
A lot has changed in Happy Valley after a 7-6 season that began with a 3-3 start.
James Franklin was fired after losing at home to Northwestern. That same game, Drew Allar suffered a season-ending injury.
The Matt Campbell era begins with a familiar face for the former Iowa State head coach, his three-year starter Rocco Becht.
Except, the two haven’t officially met yet to truly complete the changing of the guard.
Speaking to the media at Beaver Stadium on Wednesday, Becht said that he and Allar haven’t talked yet.
Allar is in Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine and will throw in front of general managers and scouts Saturday.
“I’m hoping he has a great combine, and I hear he’s throwing,” Becht said. “That’s awesome to hear.”
Allar only played six games in 2025 after entering the season as a three-year starter and Heisman contender.
He completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns. Allar finished his Penn State career with 61 passing touchdowns.
“When he comes back for Pro Day I’m excited to meet him,” Becht said.
Penn State will hold its 2026 Pro Day on Wednesday, March 18.
Becht has one season of eligibility remaining to leave a lasting impact on the program.
The Nittany Lions won their final four games last season, including a 22-10 victory over Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Becht is reuniting with Campbell, offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser, and multiple other staffers and players who transferred from Iowa State.
The 2026 Blue-White Weekend festivities will take place on Saturday, April 25.
