With three games remaining on their schedule, the Penn State Nittany Lions men’s basketball will welcome the Iowa Hawkeyes to the Bryce Jordan Center on Saturday, February 28.
The 11–17 Nittany Lions and the 20–8 Hawkeyes are scheduled for a noon tip-off, airing live on the Big Ten Network.
Iowa head coach Ben McCollum is in his first year at the helm after spending last season with the Drake Bulldogs.
The Hawkeyes are led by 6-foot-4 senior guard Bennett Stirtz, who is averaging 20.7 points and 4.5 assists while shooting 51.6% from the field.
He is followed by 6-foot-7 senior guard Tavion Banks, who is averaging 10.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting 52.6% from the floor.
Iowa is scoring 75.9 points per game while holding opponents to 64.8 points per contest. The Hawkeyes are coming off a 74–57 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Wednesday, February 25.
Penn State has not played since February 21, when it fell to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, 87–64.
The well-rested Nittany Lions have three players averaging double figures in scoring. Freshman Kayden Mingo and redshirt junior Freddie Dilione V. each average 13.9 points per game, while senior Josh Reed adds 11.2 points per contest.
Freshman 7-foot forward Ivan Juric is averaging 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Penn State is scoring 74.9 points per game and holds an 8–7 record at home this season.
Last year, the Hawkeyes edged Penn State 76–75 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Nittany Lions trimmed a double-digit deficit to one but could not convert a potential game-winning shot.
Nittany Sports Now will be live at the game Saturday to provide full coverage.
