Drew Allar Update: Penn State QB Expected to Play Saturday

Penn State QB Drew Allar may or may not play against Ohio State Saturday.

It’s not a shock considering how he looked in practice earlier this week but Penn State QB Drew Allar is expected to play Saturday.

Per a report by On3Sports, No. 15 should be good to go for No. 3 Penn State’s clash against No. 4 Ohio State.

Allar went down late in the first half of Penn State’s 28-13 win against Wisconsin this past Saturday with an apparent knee injury. Two days later, Coach James Franklin told reporters in his weekly press conference that he expected Allar to be a game-time decision. Nothing will be final until kickoff Saturday but all indications are that Allar will be out there

WE’RE TALKING ABOUT PRACTICE

It was only practice, and media was only allowed to watch roughly 15 minutes of it. But Allar looked good Wednesday evening, and if someone didn’t know any better, they would have thought nothing was wrong. While Allar likely isn’t 100%, it’s hard to envision him diving during a ball security drill if his knee wasn’t at least healthyish. Penn State reporters walked away from practice Wednesday expecting Allar to be good to go, and now, it’s looking even more likely.

DON’T FORGET BEAU

Beau Pribula made sure history didn’t repeat itself, going 11-for-13 for 98 yards and a touchdown during Penn State football’s 28-13 win at Wisconsin Oct. 26.

Although Allar seems to be good to go, make no mistake, Beau Pribula could still be a factor. The backup QB not only held down the fort against Wisconsin, he was flat out good, going 11-for-13 for 98 yards and a touchdown in the second half.

Pribula has been used in all seven of Penn State’s games thus far and there’s no reason to think he won’t be used against Ohio State.

Kickoff for Penn State-Ohio State is scheduled for noon on Fox.
