The highest-rated player in Penn State football’s 2028 recruiting class has been offered by Michigan.
Monday evening, four-star CB Deonte Flemings announced via Twitter that he had received the offer.
Flemings, an in-state standout from McDowell High School in Erie, was the first player to commit to Penn State’s 2028 Class, doing so on the last day of January.
Since his commitment, he’s received offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Michigan, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M.
He also has offers from schools such as Notre Dame, Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia. So, yeah, Flemings is a big name in the recruiting world.
In August, Flemings told Steve Wiltfong of Rivals.com that he’s looking to make the most of his recruitment.
“At the end of the day,” he said, “I still want to be a kid and enjoy my recruitment and make the best decision for me and my family.”
Right now, that decision is Penn State.
Coach Matt Campbell and company hope it stays that way.
Flemings, is the No. 129 overall player in the country per Rivals’ Industry Rankings, as well as the No. 11 DB and No. 3 overall player in Pennsylvania.
Flemings explained why he chose to commit while his freshman year of high school was as still in session.
“People say why so early,” Flemings wrote to social media the morning after his commitment. “It was (G)od willing and perfect timing i can focus on me now and becoming the best version of myself.”
Penn State currently has three players committed to its 2028 Class.
