Top 5 Sponsorship Patches for Penn State’s Football Uniforms

How much is Penn State AD Pat Kraft willing to pony up for a new defensive coordinator?

It’s not that Commissioner Brett Yormark’s recently announced conference-wide partnership with Monster Energy was made in bad faith. The goal was to create equity across the league, but the agreement may not have been in the best long-term interest of the conference’s biggest brands.

After all, wouldn’t Crumbl love to have its logo on a BYU jersey?

With schools such as Notre Dame and Ohio State landing landmark sponsorship deals, the latter even displaying a prototype jersey patch during Big Ten Media Days last week, the newest revenue race in college athletics has officially become uniform sponsorships.

According to Front Office Sports, schools still without jersey patch agreements, including Texas, Michigan, Alabama, USC and Penn State, could command deals worth as much as $30 million annually.

Here are the five sponsorship patches we’d most like to see on Penn State’s uniforms, plus one bonus pick that may be the most intriguing of them all.

#5 West Shore Home

The strategy would be simple for Penn State alumnus B.J. Werzyn.

Adding West Shore Home to the jersey would create a unified partnership spanning the field, stadium environment and the uniform itself. The only drawback is that Penn State could potentially generate more total revenue by selling the jersey patch to a separate premium partner rather than expanding West Shore Home’s existing sponsorship footprint.

#4 PNC

Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PNC is the ninth-largest bank in the United States, with approximately $603 billion in assets and more than 2,600 branches nationwide.

The company is no stranger to major sports partnerships, most notably through the naming rights to PNC Park, one of Major League Baseball’s premier ballparks. The Pennsylvania ties and established sports marketing presence make PNC a natural fit for Penn State.

#3 Dick’s Sporting Goods

Another Pennsylvania powerhouse, Dick’s Sporting Goods generated more than $14 billion in revenue in 2025 through its family of brands, including Golf Galaxy, Foot Locker and GameChanger.

The biggest challenge would be Penn State’s relationship with adidas. Any agreement would require balancing the interests of the university’s official apparel partner with those of a major sporting goods retailer.

#2 Sheetz…or…Wawa?

If there were ever a chance to settle Pennsylvania’s most passionate debate, Pat Kraft has it.

Sheetz holds the home-state advantage, having been founded in Altoona before expanding across seven states with a dominant presence in western Pennsylvania. Wawa, meanwhile, rules eastern Pennsylvania and has grown into 14 states plus Washington, D.C.

What if Penn State found a way to involve both?

Whether through alternating sponsorship rights or another creative arrangement, embracing the rivalry instead of choosing a side could generate enormous buzz while keeping one of Pennsylvania’s greatest debates alive.

Bonus: Reddit

Penn State alumnus Steve Huffman co-founded Reddit and continues to serve as its CEO, making this one of the more fascinating possibilities.

Reddit offers a nationally recognized technology brand with strong appeal to younger audiences. The platform also ranked among the 10 most-visited websites in the world and generated approximately $2.2 billion in revenue during 2025.

It would certainly be one of the more unconventional jersey sponsors in college athletics, but it would also be one of the most recognizable.

#1 Hershey

No brand feels more authentically Penn State than Hershey.

It is one of Pennsylvania’s most iconic companies, nationally recognized, family friendly and located close enough to State College that the partnership would feel genuine rather than purely transactional.

From a visual standpoint, a simple HERSHEY’S wordmark would also blend naturally with Penn State’s traditional uniform, preserving the clean aesthetic while adding one of the strongest heritage brands the university could realistically partner with.
