It has been a good week for Penn State men’s basketball freshman standout point guard, Kayden Mingo.

First, his team went (2-0) this past week by defeating Boston University (96-87) and then defeating Sacred Heart (90-59).

Second, Mingo was just named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

At the conclusion of the Boston game, Mingo finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Against Sacred Heart, the point guard registered 13 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals. The eight steals tied the Nittany Lions’ single-game steals record with former PSU standout, Ace Baldwin, Jr. who had eight against Northwestern on January 10, 2024.
