Penn State Celebrates Senior Night With Rout of Nebraska

UNIVERSITY PARK– Penn State looked like the team many felt was the national championship favorite heading into the season.

On senior night at Beaver Stadium, Penn State didn’t just beat Nebraska, it destroyed Nebraska, to the tune of a 37-10 triumph.

Kaytron Allen became the all-time leading rusher in program history, and Penn State didn’t punt until late in the third quarter, scoring in each of its first five possessions (with four of them being touchdowns).

It looked like Nebraska would draw first blood, driving all the way down to the Penn State 2-yard line.

But on 4th and 1, defensive tackle Zane Durant made a big stop, setting the Penn State offense up at its 2-yard line.

Penn State then drove 98 yards in seven plays, capped off by Ethan Grunkemeyer’s 4-yard TD pass to Andrew Rappleyea, the first of his career.

On the next drive, Penn State had rough starting field position again, starting at its 10-yard line. Penn State still drove 82 yards, more than enough for Ryan Barker to kick a field goal and make it a two-possession game.

Nebraska answered, cutting the deficit to seven with a field goal.

But Penn State scored another touchdown on the next possession, driving 75 yards on seven plays and ending with a 4-yard touchdown run by Nicholas Singleton.

Singleton scored again on the next possession, with this touchdown run being from 10 yards out.

Penn State shut the door early in the third quarter with a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Kaytron Allen, which effectively put the game to bed.

Penn State looks to close out the season by attaining bowl eligibility next Saturday at Rutgers. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 on the Big Ten Network in Piscataway, New Jersey.
