Penn State Basketball: Leading Scorer Will Enter The Transfer Portal

Penn State guard, Freddie Dilione V., will be the second Nittany Lion up to this point that has decided to enter the transfer portal.

Back on March 24, it was announced that teammate, Melih Tunca, was entering the portal as well.

Dilione’s exit, though, will sting more than Tunca’s departure.

Dilione led the Nittany Lions in scoring at 14.0 points per game.

He also averaged 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 47.3% from the field in 27.4 minutes played per contest.

The 6′-5″ redshirt junior was also a starter in 15 games this season and was probably the most consistent shooter and playmaker on the team.

The Fayetteville, North Carolina native scored a career-high 25 points against Purdue on January 10 and against Minnesota in a winning effort on February 1.

Dilione came to Penn State as a sophomore in the 2024-2025 season after transferring from Tennessee.

The 2026 NCAA Division I men’s basketball transfer portal opens on April 7, 2026, the day after the national championship game, and closes on April 21, 2026.
