Penn State once had the top-ranked Class of 2027 in the country last year, with commitments from multiple five-star prospects.
Now, the Nittany Lions remain the only Big Ten program without a commitment in the class, but one recruiting insider believes that could soon change.
Steve Wiltfong recently logged a prediction for Penn State to land four-star quarterback Peter Bourque of Tabor Academy in Hingham, Massachusetts.
“This morning I moved my pick off of the Wolverines and put it on the Nittany Lions,” Wiltfong wrote. “Bourque is still working through his process and is fresh off a terrific trip to the Bulldogs’ campus, but dialogue is really picking up with the new staff in Happy Valley and I like Penn State’s trajectory in this recruitment.”
Penn State has already gotten plenty of in-person time with Bourque throughout his recruitment. His seven unofficial visits to Happy Valley are the most he has taken to any program.
Bourque originally committed to Michigan in August 2025, but after the Wolverines went through a coaching change and became more invested in Bryce Underwood, he decommitted on February 17.
While nothing is set in stone, new head coach Matt Campbell appears to be pushing to make an early splash on the recruiting trail.
Penn State currently has senior Rocco Becht on the roster along with a trio of freshmen: Peyton Falzone, Kase Evans, and Alex Manske.
