As decisions continue to be made about whether to return to Penn State or make the jump to professional hockey, two key Nittany Lions have chosen the NHL route.
Forward Matt DiMarsico, who became the third-fastest Penn State skater to reach 100 career points behind Aiden Fink and Alex Limoges, has signed an entry-level two-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche. DiMarsico also became just the tenth skater in program history to record 100 career points.
“Personally, I love Matt’s story; he was not given anything other than an opportunity and started at the very bottom. He worked extremely hard on his individual game and paid close attention to team play and the result was great improvement year-after-year,” mentioned head coach Guy Gadowsky. “We are all extremely proud of DD for everything he has accomplished and the memories he has given this program and wish him the very best in his pro career.”
Goaltender Kevin Reidler has signed an entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators.
“Kev is a great goalie, great teammate, and a great person. Everyone loved having him in our program, and we are all very happy and excited for him to sign with Ottawa,” Penn State head coach Guy Gadowsky said. “We wish him the very best and look forward to seeing his success.”
After transferring from Nebraska Omaha, Reidler, the Senators’ fifth-round pick (151st overall) in the 2022 NHL Draft, started 18 games for Penn State this season. He posted an 11-7-0 record with a .901 save percentage and a 3.31 goals-against average.
Reidler became just the sixth Penn State goaltender to reach double-digit wins in a single season. His 11 victories also rank ninth on the program’s all-time single-season wins list.
