A former Penn State offensive lineman is staying put with one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks.
The Buffalo Bills announced this week that the organization has signed center/guard Connor McGovern to a new four-year contract.
McGovern was set to become a free agent at the start of the league year on Wednesday, but will remain in Buffalo. He’s become a dependable member of the Bills’ unit up front.
The veteran lineman signed a four-year, $52 million deal, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. McGovern will earn $32 million guaranteed during the course of the contract.
McGovern, 28, spent the past three seasons in Buffalo, the first at guard. He moved to center in 2024 after the team moved on from Mitch Moore, and hasn’t looked back.
He started 16 games each of the past two seasons and was a Pro Bowler in 2024.
The 6-foot-5, 318-pound lineman was a third round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The former Penn State product bounced between left and right guard in three seasons with the Cowboys, starting 29 of 45 games. McGovern has started every game he’s played for the Bills, including seven in the playoffs.
He ranked as the No. 15 center of 40 players graded by PFF with a 69.1 overall grade. He finished in the top 10 as the 6th best pass blocking center (73.4).
McGovern stays with new head coach Joe Brady, who was a graduate assistant at Penn State when McGovern was a freshman. The Bills are owned by Penn State alum Terry Pegula.
McGovern played three seasons at Penn State from 2016-18, blocking for Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley during the memorable 2016 Big Ten Championship season.
