‘Gadget Play After Gadget Play’: Twitter Reacts to Penn State’s 4th Straight Loss

Jim Knowles and Andy Kotelnicki during pregame warmups.

Penn State might not go to a bowl game.

If it had beaten Iowa Saturday night, things would be looking pretty good on that front.

Penn State would have been 4-3 with only wins at Michigan State and Rutgers required for bowl eligibility.

Instead, it fell to 3-4, and now must win three of its last five for any postseason possibilities to occur.

Two of those games are against No. 1 Ohio State and soon-to-be No. 2 Indiana.

Yeah, not good.

Here’s how the Twitter world reacted.

The lack of wide receiver development at Penn State has been and continues to be the biggest issue in the program

Kotelnicki is a moron. You don’t see pressure coming on that 4th down play? Just pathetic play calling

— Mark (Penn State Sufferer) (@TheYinzerLion) October 19, 2025

Penn State will reach November without owning a Big Ten/Power Four win.

^^^ Imagine someone showed you that sentence in August…

Gadget play after Gadget play 🤦🏾‍♂️

— Jahan Dotson (@JahanDotson) October 19, 2025

Ridiculous

— Allen Robinson II (@AllenRobinson) October 19, 2025

Andy Kotelnicki’s play calling tonight was garbage. That guy is an overhyped fraud.
WAY too cute on so many occasions.
Just keep it simple, stupid.
Seriously, freaking fire everybody. Except Terry Smith.

Yeah I am 110% fully out on Andy Kotelnicki at OC. WAYYYY too much tricky shit for absolutely no reason at all.

I am boycotting Dairy Queen until Andy Kotelnicki is gone

Jim Knowles has already lost as many Big 10 games at Penn State as he did at Ohio State from 2022-2024

Love Jim Knowles. Would have loved him for Penn State 4 years ago. But “hire a guy who’s gonna change your entire very successful defense when you’re preseason No. 2” might be the most disastrous PSU personnel call of my life.

— Adam Bittner (@fugimaster24) October 19, 2025

What does Jim Knowles even do?

— Barstool Penn State (@PSUBarstool) October 19, 2025

Do you think Penn State will play in a bowl game?
I say no.
Lions will lose to Ohio State and Indiana. Even if they win final three to finish 6-6, I could see the program turning down a bowl invitation so everyone can move on.

— Cory Giger (@CoryGiger) October 19, 2025

There are 3 names that are a massive reason why the last 3 games were losses:

Luke Reynolds
Dominic Deluca
Andy Kotelnicki

(You can add Knowles for allowing Deluca to continue to be on the field if you want)

Season is what it is. New guy will definitely not keep Kotelnicki.

Wait until you see who Penn State has the privilege of playing next! pic.twitter.com/gV2ETudfGT

… is there a chance Penn State fails to reach bowl eligibility? pic.twitter.com/AuHTx8jycQ

Penn State loses again

This team may go down as the single biggest waste of talent in college football history

A lot more than just the head coach needs to change in Happy Valley

— CFBTalkDaily (@CFBTalkDaily) October 19, 2025

With a 25-24 loss to Iowa, Penn State will enter the month of November without a win over a P4 team. Their next 2 games will be against #1 Ohio State and #2 Indiana.
