In the wonderful land of odds, the early line has been set for Penn State footballโs first Big Ten Championship game since 2016 against Oregon.
As expected, No. 1 Oregon is a slight favorite over No. 4 Penn State. PSU will likely move up to No. 3 following No. 2 Ohio Stateโs upset loss to Michigan, which made all of this possible.
Oregon is favored by 4.5-points per FanDuel Sportsbook.
Oregon is the only Division I team in the country that is undefeated. Before Saturday, it was the only team that has beaten Ohio State this season. The Ducks got a 32-31 win Oct. 12 in what might have been the game of the year in college football. To win the Big Ten in its first season, it will have to beat a Penn State team thatโs a buzzsaw at the moment.
HOT IN NOVEMBER
Penn Stateโs November got off to a rotten start. The team dropped its 12th game to Ohio State in the past 13 tries. Since then, PSU has been on fire. Aside from a nail-biting 26-25 win at Minnesota Nov. 23, the rest of Penn Stateโs games post-Ohio State have been bloodbaths. Penn State beat Washington 35-6, Purdue 49-10 and Maryland 44-7. Oregon will be by far Penn Stateโs toughest opponent since the Ohio State game. Overall, itโs hard to argue that any team Penn State has played is better than the No. 1 team in the land.
QUACK QUACK
Led by QB Dillon Gabriel (22 TD, 6 INT, 73.8 completion %), Oregon has cleared its first 12 hurdles en route to a perfect regular season. Oregonโs resume features not one, but two wins over teams likely to be in the College Football Playoff. Boise State is the other. Penn State is a lock for the Playoff regardless, so Oregon can make it three Saturday unless Penn State has something to say about it, which the odds say, for now, that it will not.
Kickoff for Penn State-Oregon is scheduled for 8 on Fox Saturday, Dec. 5 in Indianapolis.
