Happy Days Are Here Again: Penn State Throttles Washington Before 110,000-Plus

University Park— Penn State came into Saturday night’s game against Washington needing a win to stay alive in the College Football Playoff race and a demolition to help the fan base get the nasty taste of another loss to Ohio State out of the fan base’s collective mouth.

It got both with a resounding 42-6 win over Washington before the ninth-largest crowd in Beaver Stadium history.

PSU has also now won its last five White Out games dating back to 2019. The victims have been Michigan, Auburn, Minnesota, Iowa and now Washington as of late Saturday night.

Penn State got the scoring started on an 8-yard run by QB Beau Pribula, with starting QB Drew Allar on the field as a receiver.

Washington got a meaningless field goal in the third quarter to make it 28-3.

That’s how it stayed through the end of the first quarter.

Penn State added on early in the second quarter when TE Tyler Warren capped off a 14-play, 80-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.

After a Jaylen Reed interception on the ensuing possession, Penn State scored again, with Warren’s second two-yard TD run of the night.

Washington got a meaningless field goal early in the third quarter and then got its first touchdown of the game late in the third quarter. But Washington took too long to get going and Penn State left with the win.

Penn State will look to keep it going next week in West Lafayette. The team takes on 1-8 Purdue with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 on CBS. Brad Nessler and former Purdue QB Gary Danielson will be on the call.
