Penn State Availability Report: PSU Star is Ready

Coach James Franklin said Penn State RB Nicholas Singleton is dealing with a short-term injury during his weekly presser Monday, Nov. 11, 2024.

Penn State will have one of its best players for today’s game against Purdue per the availability report.

As most expected, RB Nicholas Singleton wasn’t listed on the Big Ten’s availability report, released two hours before Penn State’s 3:30 game at Purdue.

Coach James Franklin said Monday during his weekly presser that Singleton’s injury was of the “short-term” variety.

Two days later, during the media’s weekly practice viewing window, Singleton was there as usual. After practice, Franklin told reporters that Penn State expected Singleton would be good to go.

“As you guys know, medical decisions are out of my league,” Franklin said. “But we’re confident he’ll be ready to go.”

It looks like those who make the medical decisions agreed.

SINGLETON’S INJURY

Penn State would love to have RB Nicholas Singleton back as soon as possible.

Penn State played the nine last nine and a half minutes of its 35-6 demolition of Washington at Beaver Stadium in White Out conditions Saturday night without one of its best players, and Franklin was asked about it afterward.

Singleton, who has rushed for 498 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.1 yards per carry, didn’t touch the ball for the last nine-plus minutes and wasn’t seen on the sideline.

In Franklin’s postgame presser, he was asked about Singleton’s status. Anybody who has ever listened to Franklin talk about injuries probably has a good idea of what he said— not much— but he did seem to confirm that Singleton is hurt.

“Typically, I get in (to the locker room) after this, shower,” Franklin said. “Everybody’s gone, shower. (Head trainer) Andy Mutnan is waiting for me. He goes through how we got out of the game, and what the injuries were. Typically we don’t have a whole lot of information until the next morning. But as you can imagine, I don’t usually get into sharing that information with you guys, anyway, at this stage.”

ANOTHER STAR IS READY

James Franklin and Penn State would certainly be better off with Dani Dennis-Sutton than without him

Penn State will also have one of its best defensive players good to go. DE and projected first-round draft pick Dani Dennis-Sutton has been nursing an apparent groin injury, which led to him playing a total of 15 snaps in the team’s past two games against Ohio State and Washington at Beaver Stadium. Dennis-Sutton was listed as questionable for both of those games. Not today.

Here’s the full Penn State availability  report.

Penn State and Purdue are scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 on CBS.
