Penn State fans got some good news Wednesday evening regarding one of the teamโs best players courtesy of coach James Franklin.
Franklin told reporters that RB Nicholas Singleton, who left Saturdayโs win over Washington early, is expected to play in this Saturdayโs game against Purdue.
โConfident heโll be ready to go,โ Franklin told reporters after Wednesdayโs practice. ย โAs you guys know, medical decisions are out of my league. But weโre confident heโll be ready to go.โ
Penn State probably doesnโt need Singleton to be โready to goโ to beat 1-8 Purdue. But for this team to maximize its potential the rest of the way, his presence would be huge.
THE INJURY

Penn State played the nine last nine and a half minutes of its 35-6 demolition of Washington at Beaver Stadium in White Out conditions Saturday night without one of its best players, and James Franklin was asked about it afterward.
Singleton, who has rushed for 498 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.1 yards per carry, didnโt touch the ball for the last nine-plus minutes and wasnโt seen on the sideline.
In Franklinโs postgame presser, he was asked about Singletonโs status. Anybody who has ever listened to Franklin talk about injuries probably has a good idea of what he saidโ not muchโ but he did seem to confirm that Singleton is hurt.
โTypically, I get in (to the locker room) after this, shower,โ Franklin said. โEverybodyโs gone, shower. (Head trainer) Andy Mutnan is waiting for me. He goes through how we got out of the game, and what the injuries were. Typically we donโt have a whole lot of information until the next morning. But as you can imagine, I donโt usually get into sharing that information with you guys, anyway, at this stage.โ
HE LOOKS GOOD

It looked like it was business as usual for Singleton Wednesday during the mediaโs weekly practice viewing window at Holuba Hall. Those who donโt believe us can watch NSNโs footage for themselves.
No. 4 Penn State is scheduled to take on Purdue at 3:30 on CBS Saturday.
