Penn State fans got some good news Wednesday evening regarding one of the team’s best players courtesy of coach James Franklin.
Franklin told reporters that RB Nicholas Singleton, who left Saturday’s win over Washington early, is expected to play in this Saturday’s game against Purdue.
“Confident he’ll be ready to go,” Franklin told reporters after Wednesday’s practice. “As you guys know, medical decisions are out of my league. But we’re confident he’ll be ready to go.”
Penn State probably doesn’t need Singleton to be “ready to go” to beat 1-8 Purdue. But for this team to maximize its potential the rest of the way, his presence would be huge.
THE INJURY

Penn State played the nine last nine and a half minutes of its 35-6 demolition of Washington at Beaver Stadium in White Out conditions Saturday night without one of its best players, and James Franklin was asked about it afterward.
Singleton, who has rushed for 498 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.1 yards per carry, didn’t touch the ball for the last nine-plus minutes and wasn’t seen on the sideline.
In Franklin’s postgame presser, he was asked about Singleton’s status. Anybody who has ever listened to Franklin talk about injuries probably has a good idea of what he said— not much— but he did seem to confirm that Singleton is hurt.
“Typically, I get in (to the locker room) after this, shower,” Franklin said. “Everybody’s gone, shower. (Head trainer) Andy Mutnan is waiting for me. He goes through how we got out of the game, and what the injuries were. Typically we don’t have a whole lot of information until the next morning. But as you can imagine, I don’t usually get into sharing that information with you guys, anyway, at this stage.”
HE LOOKS GOOD

It looked like it was business as usual for Singleton Wednesday during the media’s weekly practice viewing window at Holuba Hall. Those who don’t believe us can watch NSN’s footage for themselves.
No. 4 Penn State is scheduled to take on Purdue at 3:30 on CBS Saturday.
