The Penn State football program has added an opponent to their future schedule.
According to FBSchedules.com, the Nittany Lions have added the UMass Minutemen to their 2028 non-conference schedule. That game will take place on September 16th.
With this agreement, Penn State has filled their 2028 non-conference schedule, which also includes Ball State on September 2nd and Syracuse on September 9th.
The Penn State Big Ten schedule in 2028 includes hosting Indiana, Iowa, Ohio State, Oregon and UCLA, while going on the road to take on Michigan State, Nebraska, Rutgers and USC.
As far as UMass, they’ll be joining the MAC Conference as a full member starting on July 1, 2025.
Per that report on FBSchedules, Penn State will be paying UMass $1.6 million to travel to Beaver Stadium.
These two programs have played twice with Penn State winning by a large margin both times: Penn State 63-0 in 2023 and Penn State 48-7 back in 2014.

2025: vs. Nevada, vs. Florida International, vs. Villanova
2026: vs. Marshall, at Temple, vs. Buffalo
2027: vs. Syracuse, vs. Delaware, vs. Temple
2028: vs. Ball State, at Syracuse, vs. UMass
