Two seasons ago, Michigan regressed from going 14-0 and winning the national championship to going 8-5.
Despite that, many Michigan fans felt this was successful year simply because Michigan upset No. 2 Ohio State in Columbus during the regular season finale.
Penn State won’t have a similar opportunity this season.
Unless Minnesota somehow upsets No. 8 UCLA this weekend, PSU will end the season playing just one ranked team, with that being a loss to USC Oct. 10.
Although Washington is just 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the Big Ten, a win in Seattle would be the closest thing PSU could get to a “statement win.”
NSN’s Joe Smeltzer joined “The Pittsburgh Football Show,” hosted by Pittsburgh Sports Now’s Alan Saunders, to talk about it.
