Logan Imes, a three-star from Zionsville, Indiana, that committed to Penn State last March and singed his letter of intent in November, has requested to be released from that letter of intent.
Kyle Neddenriep of the Indianapolis Star first reported this late Tuesday morning and Imes confirmed the report with Nittany Sports Now via text.
Zionsville guard Logan Imes has requested release from NLI at Penn State to see what other options available. Still open to Penn State once new staff in place if there is interest. Also has great relationship with Micah Shrewsberry so Notre Dame is among options.

Imes told NSN in the same text that he’s still “strongly considering” Penn State while weighing his other options.
As one could imagine, Notre Dame is one of those options largely because of Imes’s relationship with now-former Penn State coach Micah Shrewsberry.
Shrewsberry recruited Imes to Penn State, and now is the boss at Notre Dame.
It also probably helps Notre Dame’s cause that Imes is from Zionsville, Indiana, which his less than two and a half hours away from South Bend.
But something that would help Penn State’s case in keeping Imes in the fold is hiring associate head coach Adam Fisher to succeed Shrewsberry.
Imes has a close relationship with Fisher, and the night Shrewsberry agreed to the Notre Dame job, Imes told Nittany Sports Now via text that he wanted Penn State to consider Fisher for the job.
“Coach Fish is an awesome coach,” Imes said, “and has felt like family this last year and a half of recruiting. He also is a great basketball mind, and deserves to be looked at for the job.”
Almost a week later, Imes told NSN that, should Fisher get the job, Penn State would be “one of my top options.”
But that’s far from a sure thing. Penn State has been reportedly looking at other candidates, such as VCU head coach Mike Rhoades, and Temple has reportedly been looking at Fisher for its head coaching position.
Imes is now the second ‘23 signee to request his release. Carey Booth, Penn State’s top-rated signee, was the first, doing so the night after Shrewsberry took the Notre Dame job. Now, the only one of Penn State’s three ‘23 signees not to request their release is Braeden Shrewsberry, Micah’s son.
