This is one in a series of stories breaking down each of the players on Penn State Football’s 2026 roster.
No one knows fully what to make of the 2026 Penn State wide receivers room, and Karon Brookins is no exception.
Brookis has plenty of size at 6-feet-5 and 207 pounds, but until he appears in a college game, it will be impossible to know what he can do at this level.
Like many, Brookins transferred to Penn State after Matt Campbell, his coach at Iowa State, left for Happy Valley.
There are plenty of reasons Campbell liked Brookins enough to recruit him to two different schools.
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 207 pounds
Hometown: Pennsauken, New Jersey
Before Penn State
High School: Brookins had a standout career at Timber Creek High School, going for 575 yards and seven touchdowns on 32 receptions as a senior. A three-star recruit, Brookins signed with Iowa State in Dec. 2024.
Iowa State: Brookins redshirted what turned out to be his only season in Ames, not appearing in any games.
Where he stands: Due to a combination of talented receivers returning (Koby Howard, Lyrick Samuel) and fellow transfers coming in (Brookins’ Iowa State teammates Chase Sowell and Brett Eskildsen), it might be hard for Brookins to get a lot of playing time. In any case, all Brookins can do is make the most of his opportunities.
A quote about Brookins: “Karon Brookins is a super talent. We thought he was one of the really talented guys that was in our program at Iowa State a year ago. It just so happens we kind of brought him a little bit closer to home, and we’re excited about what he’s got the ability to do.” — Campbell during his spring practice intro presser in March.
