Penn State football’s Class of 2027 QB commit will be taking his official visit this weekend.
Will Wood announced on social media Monday morning that he’ll be taking his OV June 5-7.
Wood announced his commitment to Penn State May 15, picking PSU over Boston College and others.
On the day of his commitment, Wood told NSN that he and Matt Campbell would meet in the coming days to talk about other prospects that Wood could help Penn State land.
He’ll have the chance to do that this weekend.
The most marquee non-committed player set to take his official this weekend is Khalil Taylor, one of the top prospects in Pennsylvania. Taylor, a four-star from Pine-Richland High School in the Pittsburgh area, is the No. 77 overall player in the country per 247Sports’ composite rankings, as well as the No. 13 receiver in the country and No. 4 player in Pennsylvania.
Taylor had been committed to Penn State, but de-committed in October shortly before PSU fired James Franklin, and the recruiting continues under Campbell.
Wood is a three-star recruit. Although he’s more focused on what he can control, that does put a chip on his shoulder.
“It kind of pisses you off a bit,” Wood told NSN in late April, “and it motivates you a bit. So I won’t lie and say it doesn’t. Yeah, it’s definitely a thing. But my goal is not to be a four-star. My goal is to go play at high-level college football and win championships.”
Wood has already led Xaverian Brothers (Westwood, Massachusetts) to a pair of state championships, and the first like in 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins’ scouting report of him are “winning quarterback.”
To win titles at Penn State, they’ll have to win recruiting battles, and Wood can play a part in that this weekend.
