Sought After 4-Star Edge Rusher Visits Penn State

Penn State recruited defensive lineman Owen Wafle to join the team for the 2025 season. It’s now hoping to do the same with his younger brother, one of the top edge rushers in the country.

Four-star edge Luke Wafle visited Penn State this month and shared a collection of pictures in PSU apparel.

“Young hunters #WeAre #NotCommitted.,” Luke Wafle posted on Instagram.

Owen commented, “Come on Home Brotha!!” Multiple recruits, including four-star safety Matt Sieg, also posted comments on the post, which were liked by Luke.

Luke Wafle is the higher-rated recruit of the two brothers. Owen transferred to Happy Valley after redshirting at Michigan. A 6-foot-6, 245-pound edge from Princeton, New Jersey, Waffle is regarded as the No. 55 player nationally, by the 247Sports composite scale, and No. 6 edge rusher. 247Sports grades him as a 92 overall and the top football player in New Jersey for the Class of 2026.

Waffle will decide between five schools, including Penn State. PSU is competing with Ohio State, Texas, USC and Florida. It’s fair to say having Owen Wafle on the team could give PSU a leg up, but Luke Wafle still has visits scheduled to USC (June 13) and Texas (June 20) before making his final say.

247Sports lists Wafle visiting Penn State June 6, following trips to Gainesville (May 16) and Columbus (May 30). Deion Barnes is leading the charge for PSU to land Wafle. Waffle totaled 83 tackles, eight sacks, and eight QB hits during his junior season at The Hun School of Princeton.

247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins thinks that Wafle reminds him of Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers’ edge rusher Jack Sawyer.

“Racks up stops when ball carriers near his gaps as he has the strength and power to will his way to wins. Not always the quickest off the snap, but has the awareness to move laterally and beat cutoffs,” Ivins said on 247Sports. “Heavy hands and a diesel engine tend to produce most of his quarterback pressures as he defeats protection by trying to ram his way through it.”

There is no crystal ball prediction or current timetable on when Wafle will officially make a decision.
