The big day for Penn State got even bigger as the Nittany Lions received some great news prior to kickoff.
2026 4-star safety Matt Sieg announced on social media his commitment to the Nittany Lions. The 4-star athlete is currently the No. 187th ranked player in the country by Rivals.com and the No. 5 prospect in Pennsylvania.

Sieg already becomes the 7th commitment for Penn State’s Class of 2026, which now has a Team Ranking of No. 3. This recruiting class is already filled with plenty of big names, including 4-star offensive tackle Kevin Brown (Harrisburg, PA), 4-star QB Troy Huhn (San Marcos, California) and 4-star running back Messiah Mickens (Harrisburg, PA).
The 6-foot-0, 170-pound Sieg selected Penn State over other offers from Wisconsin, Pitt, West Virginia, Virginia, Vanderbilt, USC, Syracuse, Rutgers, Nebraska, Missouri, Michigan State, Maryland and Iowa. Last weekend, Sieg made a GameDay visit to Wisconsin for their matchup against Penn State and some thought the Badgers were leading for his services but that wasn’t the case.
Sieg made this announcement while at Beaver Stadium for the Ohio State game and he’ll make a return visit next weekend for the White Out Game against Washington.
Once again, credit Terry Smith for his recruiting in Western Pennsylvania. Over the last couple of recruiting classes, Penn State has been able to land WPIAL prospects such as 4-star linebacker Dayshaun Burnett (Imani Chrisitan Academy), 4-star linebacker Alex Tatsch (Latrobe High School), 4-star offensive lineman Brady O’Hara (North Catholic HS), 4-star running back Tiqwai Hayes (Aliquippa High School), 3-star cornerback Xxavier Thomas (Pittsburgh Central Catholic), 3-star wide receiver Peter Gonzalez (Pittsburgh Central Catholic), 4-star running back Quinton Martin (Belle Vernon High School) and 4-star linebacker Anthony Speca (Pittsburgh Central Catholic).
