Penn State Receives Commitment from 2026 4-Star QB Troy Huhn

Penn State receives a commitment on Tuesday as they add a big-time prospect from California and continue to extend their recruiting profile out West.

Tuesday morning, 2026 4-star quarterback Troy Huhn (Mission Hills High School in San Marcos, California) made a commitment to Penn State. Huhn becomes the second member of Penn State’s Class of 2026, joining 4-star running back Messiah Mickens.

The addition of Huhn is a huge recruiting win for the Nittany Lions as Huhn (6’4″, 205-pounds) held offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Florida State, Indiana, LSU, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, Central Florida, UCLA, Utah, Virginia Tech and Washington.

With that number of quality offers, Huhn is obviously a national recruit, as Rivals.com rates him as the No. 7 and the No. 105 overall player in the Class of 2026.

Last season, Huhn completed 133 of his 223 passes for 1,623 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Huhn’s commitment to Penn State follows a recent unofficial visit to both Penn State and Ohio State. Credit Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki for the impact he made on Huhn during his visit and making it crystal clear how much of a priority he was for Penn State and his future plans for the offense.

The recruiting speculation had Huhn and Dia Bell ranking as the top 2026 quarterbacks on Penn State’s recruiting board. With Bell recently making a commitment to Texas, James Franklin and his offensive coaches really zeroed in on Huhn.

Mission accomplished as the Nittany Lions land their big-time quarterback prospect of the future.

Drew Allar is obviously the Nittany Lions quarterback for 2024 and after that, it will be a battle over the next couple of seasons between players such as redshirt freshman Jaxon Smolik (West Des Moines, Iowa), freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer (Lewis Center, Ohio) and 2025 4-star commit Bekkem Kritza (Miami, Florida) and Huhn.
