Another $10 million has come in toward Penn State football’s efforts to renovate Beaver Stadium, which are estimated to cost as much as $700 million.

Trustee emeritus Ira Lubert and his wife, Pam, have agreed to donate $10 million.

As a reward for their efforts, the welcome center which Penn State hopes will be one of the biggest changes brought about by the renovation project will be named the Lubert Family Welcome Center.

This welcome center will be a place where fans can enter the stadium on Gameday and will also be a place prospective undergraduates can go to begin their campus tours.

In a statement, University President Neeli Bendapudi said the Luberts “are community leaders and philanthropists of extraordinary generosity.”

“This latest commitment also continues their long history of support for our University and Ira’s service to Penn State, including as the former chair of our Board of Trustees,” she said. “Ira and Pam understand that the Penn State journey begins the moment that a student visits our campus for the first time, and that Beaver Stadium represents the strength and scale of the University they are joining. Through this gift, they are not only supporting vital renovations at the home of Nittany Nation, but also ensuring that new generations of Penn Staters will discover connection, community and their path to success from their earliest moments on campus.”

The Lubert Family has now joined the Misitano family, PAM Health and two anonymous donors in supporting the renovations. Per Penn State insider Ben Jones, the University has received $55 million toward the project in donations alone.

The full project is expected to be completed by 2027. Thorndike also told trustees that the renovation is planned to be $664 million and won’t go over $700 million.
