A Penn State commit has been offered by another Big Ten program.
Late Easter Sunday evening, Semajay Robinson, the first player to commit to the revamped PSU Class of 2027, announced via X that he had received an offer from UCLA.
Robinson is a four-star cornerback from Dillard High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He announced his commitment Saturday, March 28, and since then, four players have announced their commitments, including a pair of defensive backs in Zachary Gleason Jr. (Pittsburgh) and Ka’ron Ceaser (Atco, New Jersey).
Penn State now has a top 25 class again, and things could be getting even better.
A big factor in getting Robinson to commit to Penn State was Terry Smith, who wears many hats but has been the team’s cornerbacks coach for more than a decade.
“My relationship with Coach Terry is strong,” Robinson told 247Sports following his commitment. “I feel like he truly understands my game and has a clear plan to develop me. Not just as a player, but as a person. I trust his track record of developing guys like (former Penn State and current Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter, Jr.) who resemble my game.”
If Robinson signs with Penn State and has a career similar to Porter Jr., who is now one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, PSU fans are in for a treat.
Signing Day is still more than eight months away, by which point, Penn State coach Matt Campbell and UCLA coach Bob Chesney will have each wrapped up their first regular seasons on the job.
