Penn State picked up its second commitment of the day Saturday evening when Landon Blum ended his recruitment and pledged to the Nittany Lions.
Blum, a Woodbine, Iowa native, is a consensus four-star prospect across the three major recruiting services. The 6’4”, 205-pound athlete was first offered by Matt Campbell and his staff in April 2024 when they were still at Iowa State.
After several visits to Ames over an 18-month span, Blum made it clear last September that the Cyclones were his early favorite.
That changed after Campbell departed for Penn State, and the Nittany Lions officially offered in mid-January.
Although Blum plays eight-man football in high school, he has still emerged as one of the nation’s more intriguing pass-catching prospects.
Rivals ranks him No. 278 nationally in the Rivals300, while the Industry Rankings place him even higher at No. 202 overall and No. 26 among wide receivers.
At one point Rivals listed Blum as a tight end, but Penn State has long viewed him as a wide receiver fit in Taylor Mouser’s offense.
Blum finished last season with 60 receptions for 1,049 yards and 24 receiving touchdowns, the highest total in Iowa in 2025.
He chose Penn State over a long list of offers that included Auburn, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas State, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
Earlier on Saturday, Penn State landed Top 10 New Jersey prospect Carter Blattner.
