Thanks to the Name, Image and Likeness collective, Penn State fans have the power to recruit a Class of 2023 five-star wide receiver.
Jurrion Dickey, out of Menlo-Atherton High School in Menlo Park, California, announced that he would be picking his school of choice, which is down to Oregon, Penn State or Tennessee, based on which school’s fan base buys his trading card the most. This is an innovative but inevitable marketing tool by Dickey, who right now is an Oregon commit. Still, Penn State and Tennessee have pushed hard for Dickey throughout his recruiting process.
The trading card company behind this bidding war is Prospex, which allows teams to sell digital trading cards and put money in the hands of high school recruits, and Dickey will collect the benefits. The cost for Dickey’s card is $100, and Dickey will keep 85% of the collection. Whichever school isn’t, the fans of the team not picked will get 90% of their money back.
Dickey (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) is the number three player in California, the number two wide receiver, and the No. 14 overall player nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Dickey is an explosive player with a chiseled frame that can win 50/50 balls consistently and run short, intermediate, and deep routes. Dickey plays safety and can return kicks, so he can contribute to special teams immediately upon his arrival on campus.
