On Thursday, Kaveion Keys, a four-star linebacker out of Varina High School in Richmond, Virginia, decommited from North Carolina. As a result, 247Sports National Recruiting Analysts Steve Wiltfong and Brian Dohn each put in Crystal Ball predictions for Keys to commit to Penn State.

Keys (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) is the number five recruit in Virginia, the No. 23 linebacker, and the No. 318 player nationally, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Keys committed to North Carolina on Aug. 29, picking them over Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Texas A & M.
Keys was in attendance for Penn State’s “White Out” game against Minnesota in October, and Penn State continued to make a push after he committed to the Tar Heels.
Keys has a long frame capable of putting on 20-30 pounds without sacrificing his speed and agility. Scouts say that he can play outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense, or a rush end in a 3-4 defense. He is a versatile athlete that actually plays wide receiver for Varina, which helps him have great balance and body control. Keys’ downhill physical style to go along with his skills and physical gifts would fit greatly in Manny Diaz’s defensive scheme.

Penn State getting Keys would be a big get, especially having two other four-star commits in the linebacker room in Tony Rojas and Ta’Mere Robinson.
