While Penn State fans were still celebrating their team’s lopsided win at Indiana this Saturday, the school announced the time for next Saturday’s game against Maryland at Beaver Stadium.

It will be a 3:30 kick on Fox.

Some fans speculated that Penn State-Maryland could be a Big Noon Kickoff on the same channel.

If Maryland beat Wisconsin in Madison Saturday, the Terps would have moved to 7-2 and likely would have ended up in the top 25. But Maryland lost, and now the game is three and a half hours later. Penn State and Maryland have a long and one-sided history. In a series that dates back to 1917, Penn State has a 41-3-1 record against the Terps, albeit with two of those wins coming after  James Franklin got to Penn State in 2014.

Maryland won the first meeting of the Franklin era, beating Penn State, 20-19, with last-minute field goal by Brad Craddock being the game-winner.

The Terps waxed Penn State in the pandemic-themed 2020 season. The Terps won 35-19 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score showed.

Maryland’s QB in that game, Taulia Tagovailoa, is also expected to start this year’s matchup.

Tagovailoa is the younger brother of Alabama legend and current Miami Dolphins starting QB Tua Tagovailoa.

Penn State has three regular-season games left, starting with Maryland. The team plays at Rutgers Nov. 19 and finishes the regular season with the annual Land Grand Trophy clash against Michigan State, with this year’s game being at Beaver Stadium. Sparty got a big win over No. 16 Illinois on the road Saturday, but coach Mel Tucker’s team is still under .500 at 4-5. With seven wins, Penn State is already bowl eligible.
