How to Watch: PSU Football vs. Maryland

Beaver Stadium -- David Hague

Penn State took care of business last Saturday in Bloomington, stomping Indiana, 45-14, and now has to deal with Maryland.

Coach James Franklin’s team has three games left, and all three— against Maryland at home, at Rutgers and against Michigan State on Senior Day at Beaver Stadium— are games it will likely be favored in.

The final 1/4 of Penn State’s regular season begins Saturday at Beaver Stadium. Last season, Penn State beat the Terps, 31-14, on the road.

Penn State’s series with the Terps goes back to 1917. Penn State won the first meeting, 57-0, and has one almost all of them since, currently having a 41-3-1 record against Maryland. Interestingly, two of Maryland’s wins over Penn State have come since 2014, when Franklin became the boss in Happy Valley. More interestingly, both of those wins— in 2014 and 2020– came in November at Beaver Stadium. Will history repeat itself Saturday?

The oddsmakers don’t think so. Penn State is favored by 10.5 points according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That spread would likely be lower had Maryland beat Wisconsin in Madison last Saturday.

If the Terps beat the Badgers, Maryland would he 7-2 and likely in the top 25. Instead, Maryland lost, 23-10, is 6-3 (3-3 Big Ten) and on the verge of falling just a step above mediocrity record-wise.

For Penn State (7-2, 4-2) fans who won’t be at Beaver Stadium Saturday, here’s how to watch and listen to the game.
