Fans expect Penn State to beat Ohio, and do so in convincing fashion.
Sure, the Bobcats are 1-0 and got a somewhat impressive upset win over Florida Atlantic at home this past Saturday.
But isn’t the fact that they were underdogs against Florida Atlantic at home pretty telling.
Ohio is a mid-major program that 3-9 last season, and Penn State doesn’t lose to teams like that in Beaver Stadium.
Ohio upset Penn State in that venue the last time these teams play, but that was a Bobcats team that went 9-4 playing a Penn State team that was playing its first home game after the worst summer in program history.
The 2022 Penn State team has momentum, coming off a thrilling 35-31 win over Purdue on the road in last Thursday night’s season opener. Week 2 should be anti-climatic compared to the theatrics of Week 1.
The Nittany Lions are 24.5-point favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
With the outcome of the game seemingly a forgone conclusion, Penn State fans will probably worry more about how the team looks rather than the outcome.
I posed a question on Twitter this past Saturday asking what Penn State fans wanted to see Saturday, and got a variety of responses.
A 100 yard rusher. Singleton, Allen, or Lee idc
— Colin Crissey 🇺🇦 (@ColinPat3) September 4, 2022
Penn State hasn’t had a 100-yard rusher since Keyvone Lee— who is still on the team and caught the winning touchdown against Purdue— accomplished that feat against Michigan in 2020.
Drew Allar
— Jordy (@JordyFaux) September 4, 2022
Allar made his college debut last week in his first game wearing a Penn State uniform, briefly entering in the third quarter after Sean Clifford had to leave due to cramps. Allar is a five-star Class of 2022 signee from Medina, Ohio, who many fans expect to be Penn State’s next great quarterback.
Abdul Carter for more than 1 play
— Stoneman8286 (@tomstoner3) September 5, 2022
Carter, a four-star freshman from Philadelphia, got ejected for targeting in the second quarter of the opener. He’s expected to play more for more than one snap against Ohio.
So Penn State fans, what do you want to see most against Ohio?
