Penn State is opening its 2022 season Thursday night on the road against Purdue.

Penn State is coming off a disappointing 7-6 season that ended with the team losing six of its last eight games. Coach James Franklin’s squad is just 11-11 in its past 22.

Purdue has made great strides in coach Jeff Brohm’s five seasons in West Lafayette and is coming off a successful 9-4 2021 season. The Boilermakers are led by sixth-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who will be opposed by another sixth-year quarterback, Penn State’s Sean Clifford.

Penn State has had great success against Purdue historically. The Nittany Lions are 15-3 all-time against the Boilermakers, and one of those three losses came all the way back in 1951. Purdue’s only wins over Penn State came consecutively in 2003 and ‘04. Since 2004, Penn State has won each of its nine meetings with Purdue, the most recent coming in 2019, when Penn State handled the Boilers, 35-7, at Beaver Stadium.

For Penn State fans that aren’t making the trip to West Lafayette, here’s how to watch and listen to Penn State’s season opener.
