4-Star WR Anthony Brown has Penn State in top 5

Anthony Brown, a Class of 2023 four-star receiver out of Springfield High School in Ohio, has narrowed his list of schools down to five, and Penn State made the cut. Brown made the announcement Thursday via Twitter.

Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan and Oklahoma are Brown’s other four finalists.

Brown (5-foot-10, 170 pounds), had offers from 29 Division I programs. He’s the No. 10 overall player in Ohio, the top-rated receiver in the state and the No. 50 receiver in the nation according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Brown originally committed to Minnesota but decommitted in March as more offers came in following his junior season.

He had 822 yards and seven touchdowns receiving last season, helping lead Springfield to the Ohio High School Athletic Association championship game.

In the title game, Brown caught six passes for 106 yards and a touchdown in a loss to St. Edward High School. As a sophomore, he caught 40 balls for 829 yards and nine touchdowns.

On his game tape, Brown has shown to be an excellent deep threat, as well being quick and shifty with the ball in his hands to avoid big hits, which compensates for his small frame.

If Brown were to commit to Penn State, he’d join Ejani Shakir and Yazeed Haynes in the receiver room from the school’s 2023 recruiting class.
