The latest rankings are in, and Penn State has moved up.
PSU has cracked the top 15, moving up from No. 16 to No. 15 in the Coaches Poll and from No. 16 to No. 14 in the AP.
Not a major step, but a step nonetheless.
This comes on the heels of Penn State’s 27-9 win at Temple.
Other Big Ten teams weren’t so fortunate.
Oregon, which came into its matchup at Oklahoma State ranked No. 6, lost and is now No. 18 in the Coaches and No. 21 in the AP. Ohio State came into its showdown at Texas ranked No. 1, blew a three-score lead and lost. Now, Ohio State is No. 6 in both polls and Texas is No. 1 in both.
USC benefits from the two losses and has moved from No. 14 to just outside the top 10 at No. 11 in the Coaches and No. 12 in the AP.
Penn State takes on USC Oct. 10 at Beaver Stadium in what will be the program’s annual White Out game.
Michigan had the biggest bounce back of any Big Ten team, going from a miracle win over Western Michigan at home to an upset of No. 11 Oklahoma.

Right behind Michigan in the Coaches is Iowa, which moved from No. 21 to No. 20 after beating Matt Campbell’s old school, Iowa State. In the AP, Iowa is ahead of Michigan at No. 18. Finally, Washington is still in the top 25, but barely, falling from No. 19 to No. 24 in the Coaches. after an unimpressive 16-14 win over Utah State at home.
In the AP, Washington is no longer ranked.
Penn State takes on Washington in Seattle Nov. 7.
Also receiving votes in the Coaches Poll were Nebraska (18) and UCLA (8).
In the AP, Washington was the most amongst “others receiving votes” at 172. UCLA received nine.
For now, Penn State must focus on Buffalo, which it takes on Saturday at noon on the Big Ten Network.
