Penn State Football

Odds: Penn State Colossal Favorite Over Buffalo

As expected, Penn State is a massive favorite over Buffalo Saturday.

Penn State was also a massive favorite against Marshall (24.5 points) and Temple (23.5 points).

But the spread for the Buffalo game is absolutely colossal.

Penn State is a 39.5-point favorite per FanDuel Sportsbook. PSU has already won one game by more, beating Marshall 45-0 Week 1. Week 2 wasn’t as easy. Penn State was tied with Temple in the final seconds of the first half before pulling away for a 27-9 win. Like Marshall and Temple, Buffalo is a team Penn Stats should handle. Yes, Buffalo is 1-1, with the win being over Albany by four and the loss being to Florida International by 13.

Penn State is better than Albany and Florida International.

PSU has only played Buffalo four times, and interestingly enough, lost one of them.

The first meeting took place in 1900.

Buffalo won that one, 10-0. Penn State would have to wait 107 years to get its revenge, and did so with a 45-24 win in 2007. Eight years later, Penn State took the series lead with an ugly 27-14 win that you might remember as the coming out party for one Saquon Barkley, and four years later, Penn State added to its advantage with a 45-13 win under the lights.

This will be Matt Campbell’s first chance to play Buffalo as Penn State’s coach, but he’s familiar  with the Bulls, and interestingly enough, has yet to beat them.

Campbell coached against Buffalo twice when he was the boss at Toledo and went 0-2.

It seems to be a safe bet that Campbell will get his first win over the Bulls.
