2023 WR Ejani Shakir Commits to Penn State

Ejani Shakir, a Class of 2023 receiver who is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports’ composite rankings but a four-star according to its site rankings, has committed to Penn State.

Shakir comes from Winslow Township High School in Atco, New Jersey. Both of 247’s “crystal ball” projections had him picking Penn State. Also in the running were Boston College, Maryland, NC State, Ole Miss, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Penn State offered Shakir back in April of 2020 while he was still a freshman.

In his analysis of Shakir, 247 Sports National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn wrote that Shakir (6-foot, 185 pounds) “has decent size, and frame will allow for weight-room development and the addition of muscle mass.

Dohn went on to write that Shakir is a “three-phase player” and is “dangerous in the return game.”

“Can line up wide or in slot,” Dohn wrote. “Gets off line of scrimmage quickly and cleanly and into route. Smooth route runner who does not look stressed running full speed. Good ball skills with ability to separate downfield.”

Shakir is the 12th player to commit to Penn State’s 2023 class and the first receiver. Kaden Saunders, Anthony Ivey Omari Evans and Tyler Johnson are signed from the Class of 2022.
