This is one in a series of stories breaking down each of the players on Penn State football’s 2026 roster.
Jahmir Joseph enters 2026 as one of the younger cornerbacks in Penn State’s secondary, but he already has something valuable on his résumé.
He has game experience.
Joseph, a redshirt freshman from Nyack, New York, appeared in four games for Penn State in 2025 while preserving his redshirt. The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back played 91 total defensive snaps, including 64 in coverage, according to Pro Football Focus.
Although the sample size was limited, Joseph made the most of it.
He finished 2025 with an 82.4 overall defensive grade, which ranked second among Penn State defensive players listed by PFF. His best work came in coverage, where he posted an 86.3 grade. Joseph allowed three completions on four targets for 22 yards and no touchdowns, while also being credited with one interception.
His most extended action came in Penn State’s bowl game against Clemson, when he played 43 snaps and finished with five tackles. He also saw action against Nevada, Villanova and Northwestern.
Before Penn State: Joseph played at St. Joseph Regional High School in New Jersey, where he served as a team captain as a senior. He earned first-team all-conference honors after collecting 29 tackles, four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, a blocked field goal and a forced fumble.
As a sophomore, Joseph had 43 tackles, three interceptions, one forced fumble and one touchdown. As a freshman, he had 23 tackles, two interceptions, eight pass breakups and five touchdowns.
Joseph picked Penn State over Notre Dame and Stanford.
Where he stands: Joseph is still young, but his early production is encouraging. Penn State has experienced defensive backs ahead of him, but Joseph’s coverage numbers, ball skills and bowl-game workload suggest he could push for a larger role in 2026. Joseph should push Audevion Collins to play opposite of Daryus Dixson at cornerback.
