Penn State wrestling is in the mix for one of the top names available in the transfer portal.
Stanford transfer Lorenzo Norman is down to three finalists, according to FloWrestling’s Christian Pyles. Norman is considering Oklahoma State, Penn State and Ohio State.
Norman entered the portal after a strong redshirt freshman season at Stanford, where he became an NCAA qualifier at 174 pounds. He finished the 2024-25 season with a 21-6 overall record, including a 9-1 mark in duals. Norman also showed significant scoring upside, producing 15 bonus-point victories and seven wins over ranked opponents.
His season included several notable accomplishments. Norman was named ACC Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 1, earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors and was selected to the All-ACC Academic Team.
Norman also had a breakthrough tournament performance at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, winning the 174-pound title and helping Stanford capture its first team title in program history. Following the tournament, he was voted the Jack Lees Champion of Champions.
He also finished runner-up at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
Norman did not see the mat this season until the Collegiate Duals in late December, where he went 1-1. He opened his redshirt freshman campaign by winning 18 of his first 19 matches and was ranked inside the top 10 for much of the season.
His year ended with a tougher postseason stretch. Norman went 1-2 at the ACC Championships and needed an at-large bid to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia, where he was the No. 16 seed and went 1-2.
For Penn State, Norman would represent another high-level portal target with proven national tournament experience and significant upside.
