The Pittsburgh Steelers have finally signed quarterback Drew Allar, the last of their picks from the 2026 NFL Draft to sign their rookie deal.
Allar has been one of the team’s most talked-about selections from the 2026 NFL Draft after taking him with the 76th overall pick in the third round.
According to the assigned NFL slot value for his selection, Allar will earn a total of $7.142 million over his four-year deal, with a $1.654 million signing bonus. His base salary in 2026 will be $885,000 and his cap hit for this coming season will be $1.299 million.
Allar and the other quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft class were late to sign their contracts, with the extent of contract guarantees being the most likely sticking point. The amount of guarantee Allar received from the Steelers has not been reported.

The Steelers spent significant time evaluating the former Penn State signal-caller leading up to the draft and ultimately saw enough potential to make him one of the earlier quarterbacks selected on Day 2.
At 6-foot-5 and over 230 pounds, Allar brings prototypical NFL size along with one of the stronger arms in the draft class. During his time at Penn State, he flashed the ability to attack all areas of the field while helping keep the Nittany Lions among the top teams in the Big Ten.
Although some scouts viewed him as a raw prospect entering the league, Pittsburgh appears confident in his physical tools and developmental potential. The Steelers valued his poise in the pocket, toughness, and upside as a passer, especially in a quarterback class that lacked proven depth outside the top names.
Allar is not expected to immediately compete for a starting role, but the Steelers believe he has the traits worth developing over time within the organization. His selection also continues Pittsburgh’s recent trend of investing additional resources into the quarterback room through both the draft and free agency.
